ONE MORE STORY

ABOUT GENERAL FREYBERG CAPTURE OF THREE ITALIAN TANKS. WITH FORCE OF OimE SMALL ONE. (Official War Correspondent, N.Z.E.F.) CAIRO, January 28. New Zealanders in Tripoli are today telling one more story of their G.0.C., Lieuten-ant-General Freyberg. In the recent desert push to Tripoli he captured three Italian tanks. On the third day of the drive, General Freyberg was out on advanced reconnaissance in a small and speedy tank. It was rough, rocky country, packed with retreating enemy armour. Suddenly he came across a group of Italian Mark 13’s. His own tank was an easy mark for the weakest of his opponents, but he moved smartly towards them as if to give battle. Up went the white flag from each enemy tank. The crews popped out with their arms up in signal of surrender.
