WAR PRISONERS
MAJORITY TRANSFERRED FROM HONGKONG. CONDITIONS IN REMAINING CAMPS. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, January 27. The Joint Under-Secretary for War, Mr Henderson, told the House of Commons that the majority of the prisoners of war in Hong Kong had been transferred, though it was probable that some 2000 British and Canadian prisoners and some Indian prisoners remained. The International Red Cross had reported favourably on the camps at the end of October, but later information indicated a deterioration in the rationing. Considerable outbreaks of disease had occurred last summer.
