ALMOST WIPED OUT

TRAPPED GERMAN ARMY AT STALINGRAD ONLY 12,000 MEN LEFT. LIKELY TO BE MOPPED UP IN FEW DAYS. LONDON, January 26. Moscow announces that the German Sixth Army, at Stalingrad, now numbers only 12,000 men of of an original strength of 200,000 orlmore. Since January 16, when the enemy force was put at 80,000 men, 40,000 have been killed and 25,000 taken prisoner, Only 12,000 men are left and they are now being mopped up. They are in two groups, one to the north of Stalingrad, and the other about the centre of the city. Moscow anticipates that the mopping ug will be completed in two or three days.

In the last ten days enormous booty has been captured by the Russians, including 1297 tanks, over 3000 guns, 49,000 rifles and 523 aircraft.
