GUESTS OF HONOUR PRE-WEDDING GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) Miss J. Marshall and Mr A. McKenzie were guests of honour at a gathering held in the Parish Hall to mark their approaching marriage. There was a large attendance and a most enjoyable time was spent in competitions and dancing. After supper, Mrs J. Perfect, who was hostess, asked Miss Marshall to open the gift parcels, after which Mr A. McKenzie suitably returned thanks. Personal Items. Miss N. Carlyon, Whakatane, is spending the school vacation with her parents, Mr and Mrs C. J. Carlyon, Bell Street. Mrs Downey and family, of Aramoho, are the guests of Miss K. Ruane. Miss M. Thurston, of Masterton, was the weekend guest of Miss M. Tocker, “The Priory.” Mrs B. Carr, of Auckland, was a weekend visitor to Featherston. Sharp Earthquake. A sharp earthquake was felt at 5.58 o’clock this morning. < COSY THEATRE “JOAN OF PARIS” On Wednesday night the thrilling war drama, “Joan of Paris,” will be presented. The chief roles are in the hands of Michele Morgan, Paul Henreid,' May Robson, Thomas Mitchell and Laird Cregar. The picture tells of a French girl’s sacrifice for her country.
