HOSIERY RATIONING
OLD COUPON EXPIRES THIS MONTH. NEW ONE TO OPERATE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The Food Rationing Controller, Mr. J. E. Thomas, announced that the currency of the “X 7 coupon for the purchase of hosiery definitely expires on January 31, 1943. For the period February 1 to July 31, 1943, coupon No. “XI3” was authorised for the purchase of fully-fashioned stockings of silk, artificial silk, or mixtures thereof. No trader could supply stockings of the specified type during this period except on surrender of one coupon, “Xl3” for each pair. All other stockings may continue to be purchased with the “M” and “O” coupons, in accordance with the general coupon schedule. "Many inquiries have been received from retailers in connection with the holding of sales to clear season’s fashion goods,” said Mr. Thomas. “It has been decided that no reductions in coupon values will be permitted for sales during 1943.” A
