WEDDINGS
. HATCH—DORREEN. A wedding of considerable interest took place recently in Christchurch, when Alva Agnes, only daughter of Mr and "Mrs Meredith Dorreeh, Shir-i ley, Christchurch, was married to Ssr- • . geant Stuart Leigh (Dick), only son of ■ Mr. and Mrs. R. V. Hatch, of Masterton. The bride, who was escorted by her father, wore a lovely gown of ivory lacquered broche cut on slim-fitting lines. Her tulle Veil was mounted with two silver roses and fell softly over the train of her gown. She carried‘ a shower bouquet of deep cream roses and maidenhair fern. Two cousins of the bride, Miss Lesley Wardell, of Dunedin, and Grace' Anderson, of North Otago, were in attendance as bridesmaid and flower girl respectively. They wore pretty frocks of lavender shot taffeta with matching shoulder length veils held in place with taffeta roses. They parried mauve delphiniums and sweet peas.Coporal W. M. Dorreen, brother of the bride, carried out the duties of best man. Following the ceremony, a reception was held, the guests being received by the bride’s mother. She was attired in a light navy ensemble and wore a grey fox fur. Her shoulder spray of carnations toned with her handbag of tomato shaded suede. Mrs. Dorreen was assisted by Mrs. R. V. Hatch, mother of the bridegroom, who wore a powder blue frock under her navy wool georgette coat. A shoulder spray of pink carnations was worn. After the reception, the bride and • bridegroom left on their honeymoon, the bride wearing a navy and white ensemble and fox fur with a navy hat and scarlet bag. The bridegroom is at present on furlough and on his return overseas Mrs. S. L. Hatch will resume her position at the Kopuaranga School. MCDONALD—WICKENS. The marriage was solemnised at SwT Patrick’s Church, Masterton, on Sat" urday morning of Catherine Ellen (Kitty) elder daughter of Mrs. T. M. Wickens, Villa Street, Masterton, and the late Mr .Wickens, to John F., only son of Mrs. J. McDonald, Lincoln Road, Masterton, and the late Mr. Me- > Donald. The Rev. Father N. Mooret officiated at the marriage ceremony, and also celebrated Nuptial Mass. Mrs.A. R. Bunny presided at the organ and Miss M. Diggins was the soloist. The bride, who was escorted by her w uncle, Mr. E. O’Leary, wore a gown of romance blue marocaine. The fulllength skirt was gored and tucked at the waist line. The bodice was made with embroidered neck line and long sleeves. She wore a large tulle hat and carried a shower bouquet of pink earnations, roses and maiden hair fern. Miss Eva Wickens, sister of the bride, was bridesmaid, and wore a frock of dusky pink marocaine. Her picture hat was of toning pink tulle and she carried a shower bouquet. Lieutenant J. J. Halligan was best' man. After the ceremony a reception was held at St. Patrick’s Hall. The guests were received by the bride’s mother, assisted by Mrs. McDonald. Later in the afternoon, Mr. and Mrs. McDonald left for the south, where the honeymoon will be spent. The bride travelled in a navy blue ensemble with navy blue hat and accessories to tone.
