EXECUTIONS & THREATS IN FRANCE AND BELGIUM. DESCRIBED AS REPRISALS. (By Telegraph—Press Association— Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.0 a.m.) LONDON, January 21. Forty Belgians have been executed by the Nazis at ■ Brussels in the last fortnight, says the “Daily Telegraph.” The victims, drawn from a variety of callings, included police and municipal authorities. More executions are threatened by the Military Governor, Von Falkenhausen, as a reprisal for “a series of assassinations, acts of terrorism and sabotage” in Brussels. Quoting official from Vichy, the British United Press Madrid correspondent says more than a thousand arrests have been made in Lyons, Toulouse and Marseilles in the last two days, including nearly 200 officers of the disbanded French Army. All those arrested are described as Communists or De Gaullists.
