ADMIRAL OF THE FLEET

SIR ANDREW CUNNINGHAM PROMOTED. DISTINGUISHED SERVICES IN MEDITERRANEAN. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 9.50 a.m.) RUGBY, January 20. It is officially announced that Admiral Sir Andrew Cunningham .has been appointed Admiral of the Fleet. Vice-Admirals Sir Guy Cecil Royle, Sir John Tovey and Sir Frederick Ed-ward-Collins have been appointed admirals. Rear-Admirals Arthur St. George Lysei’ and Sir Harold Martin Burrough have been appointed viceadmirals. Sir Andrew Cunningham, formerly British Commander-in-Chief of the British naval forces in the Eastern Mediterranean, later became head of the British Naval Mission to the United States and organised the transport and sea protection of the Allied forces landed in North Africa.
