RECENT ATTACK
ON MINISTER OF AGRICULTURE COMMENT BY MR A. LINTON. ATTITUDE OF DAIRY FARMERS. Asked by a “Times-Age” reporter to continent on 'the resolution in connection with the Minister of Marketing and Agriculture, Mr Barclay, passed by the Wairarapa Farmers’ Union meeting on Monday, Mr A. Linton, a member of the New Zealand Dairy Board, said he realised that the woolgrower had a very sound case over the 15 per cent increase in wool prices being paid by the British Government, and in his opinion this money definitely belonged to the woolgrowers and no proportion of it should be retained by the New Zealand Government. At the same time, from his knowledge of the position, the resolution did not fully represent the views of the dairy farmers. Undoubtedly a certain amount of dissatisfaction existed over the present prices being paid by the Government but as these prices had been arrived at in negotiation between the dairy industry and the Government, the whole of the 'blame could not be attached to Mr Barclay. "Even in this district,” Mr Linton added, “Mr Barclay has gone out of his way personally fo give all the assistance he could in the solution of-our problems. One must remember, too, that most of these questions are matters of Government policy, and are’ not the result of action by any individual member of the Government.”
