STATE THEATRE
DOUBLE FEATURE PROGRAMME. “Who is Hope Schuyler?” is an undisturbing title, but the picture which will be shown tonight at the State Theatre is a crescendo of thrills. Joseph Allen, Mary Howard and Ricardo Cortez have no idle moments as the drama of a mystery shrouding the prosecution of a former Crown Prosecutor for accepting a bribe to forget a murder unfolds. Hope Schuyler is the missing witness needed to prove guilt. She is a crystal gazer with powers on which the evidence for the defence stands, and cannot be found, but as exciting search for her proceeds murders spring like mushrooms until there are five, and the prosecutor himself narrowly escapes death. In the midst of this high-speed action picture is the rival claims of a judge’s daughter and a newspaper girl for a man’s heart. The associate feature, “A Gentleman at Heart,” is a comedy, the cast of which is headed by Cesar Romero as a racecourse shyster who goes into art dealing, beautiful, fair headed Carol Landis and Milton Berle in a comedy gangster role.
