COUNTY AFFAIRS

MEETING OF FEATHERSTON COUNCIL REHABILITATION COMMITTEE. ALL MEMBERS APPOINTED. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Featherston County Council was held ai Martinborough this morning.. There were present Mr A. B. Martin (chairman) and Councillors R. Smith, G. Gillies, J. A. McLeod, J. C. Bidwill, L. J. Thompson and W. Cameron. Apologies for absence were received from Councillors Q. Donald, and R. W. Matthews. Accounts totalling £2166 were passed. p T . The transfer of a lease of a Lake Ferry property from Mrs Perry to Mrs Wilkin (Wellington) was granted. The Transport Motor Drivers’ Union wrote requesting that employees should be paid fortnightly instead of monthly. The chairman stated that if the men were paid fortnightly an extra meeting of the Finance Committee would be necessary. He explained that any man could receive his pay whenever he desired it and the payment would be made out of the imprest account. A matter relating to damage to. a concrete tank on a county cottage property was placed in the hands of the police. The whole of the council was appointed a rehabilitation committee, three to form a quorum.
