SWIMMING SPORTS SUCCESSFUL COMPETITORS. (“Times-Age” Special.) There was a good attendance at the swimming sports held in the Municipal Baths on Saturday afternoon. Dr. Simmers and Messrs L. M. Brown, K. Murray ,and R. Gallagher supervised the events, the results being as follows:— ’ „ „ o Boys’ dive: K. Doney 1, R. Rogers 2, P Stewart 3. Ribbon dive: K. Dbney. Girls’ dive: D. Boustead 1, A. Brown and B. Neal (equal) 2. 25 yards race (boys under 16 years): I. Fordyce 1, B. Goggin 2, P. Stewart 3. Learners race (girls): Margaret Hart 1, A. Brown 2, L. Milner 3. Leaners’ race: D. Murray 1, M. Brown 2, T. Duffy 3. Old boys’ race: A. Stewart 1, L. M. Brown 2, R. Gallagher 3.
Personal Items. A very pleasant gathering took place at the local bowling green on Sunday afternoon when Mr D. Fraser, a member of the club, who has since left io reside in Pahiatua, was asked to accept a crystal jug, glasses and tray from his fellow members as a mark of appreciation of. the good service he had rendered the club. Mr L. Houlbrooke (president) made the presentation. Afternoon tea was served. Mr and Mrs H. Higginson are on a visit to Titahi Bay. . Mrs W. Ward has been on a visit to Wellington. . Mr and Mrs Campbell Raleigh and family are spending a holiday at Castlepoint. , . Pte. F, Herbert, who has been visiting his parents at Alfredton Road, has left for camp. Mr and Mrs Hausman, who have been the guests of Mr and Mrs R. Payne, Alfredton Road, have returned home. , . Flying Officer R. Payne, of New Plymouth, who is missing on air operations overseas, is a grandson of Mis P. Nielsen, formerly of Lincoln Road, Masterton. He won the Taranaki tennis championship before going overseas and was an old boy of the New Plymouth High School.
