WEDDING

STEWART—MEREDITH. On Saturday a wedding of considerable interest throughout the district took place at St Matthew s Church, Masterton. The church had been beautifully decorated by friends of the bride with carnations and hydrangeas in shades of pink and blue. The bride was Miss Sheila Meryl Meredith, elder daughter of Mr and Mrs Laird Meredith, of Te Maire, Masterton, and the bridegroom Corporal Lawrence Gordon Stewart, youngest son of the late Mr James Stewart, Kirwee, Canterbury and Mrs Stewart, Hamilton. The Rev W. Tye officiated. The bride, who was escorted by ner father, was attired in a beautiful gown of white stiffened ninon with a fine silver stripe. The bodice featured a high neckline which was fastened with a silver filigree brooch, and long ruched sleeves fitting to the wrist. The full gored skirt ended in a long tram and her tulle veil fell from a halo of white and silver roses. Her bouquet was of white roses and lilies shaded to a pale pink with carnations. The bride was attended by her sister. Miss Erina Meredith, and Miss Nancy Carrick, who were frocked alike in pale pink sprigged organdie with heart-shaped necklines and full skirts falling from dropped waist lines. They carried bouquets of pale pink carnations and roses. Lance Corporal Lennox Henderson was best man and L.A.C. John Nelson was groomsman. The church ushers were Messrs Peter Balfour and Guy Wagg, Junr. After the ceermony a reception was held at the Ranfurly Club where the bride’s parents entertained a number of friends and relations. The rooms had been decorated with bowls of beautifbul flowers. When the bride and bridegroom left on their honeymoon the bride wore a navy embroidered suit with a white pin tucked organdie blouse and accessories to match. ___
