SHEPHERD IN POVERTY BAY DISTRICT. POLICE INVESTIGATION. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WAIROA, This Day. Hira Smith, a married man aged 28, living with his wife on Mr J. S. Jessep’s Waihi Station, Waikaremoana, where he was employed as a shepherd and his wife as a cook, was admitted to hospital yesterday suffering from a gun wound in the right thigh. His condition is serious and a blood transfusion was necessary last night. Members of the police force, under Chief-Detective Young, are carrying out an investigation, it being evident that the wound was not self-inflicted.
