CARTERTON
BOWLING KEEN GAMES ON FAST GREEN. (“Times-Age” Special.) Perfect weather prevailed for Saturday’s bowling contests, the green being fast. During the afternoon tea adjournment, the president (Mr F.. L. Barr) welcomed three visiting bowlers to the green —Messrs Healey, of Gonville, Johnson, Lower Hutt, and Frampton, Hawera. Mesdames R. Daysh and A. Adams were accorded a vote of thanks for supervising the afternoon tea arrangements. The games resulted as follow:- —
Club champion fours. —Hall, Matson, Daysh, Hughan (s) beat Smith, McCarty, Barber, Hart (s), 26/15. Friendly games.—Spooner, L. DeLacey, Callender, C. DeLacey (s) drew with Booth, Frampton, Johnson, Stent (s), 19/19; Adams, King, W. Hart, J. C. Harp (s) beat Pankhurst, Edwards, Newbculd, Tucker (s), 22/13; Steven, Foss, Bain, Barr (s) beat Hill, Smith, Riggs, Harris (s), 21/18; Clark. Colson, Siftimonds, Whyte (s) beat Kilmister, Hawker, Healey, Sorensen (s), 18/16. Stock for Freezing Works. As a result of the continued dry weather, large consignments of sheep and lambs are being railed from this district to the freezing works. Last evening two heavily laden trains left the Carterton station, one going north and the other south. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs Howard E. Jackson, who spent a holiday at Taupo, have returned home. Miss Thomas, of Palmerston North, is a visitor to Carterton. Pte. R. Salisbury, who had seen service in Egypt, returned to Carterton yesterday.
REGENT THEATRE “A WOMAN’S FACE.”' “A Woman’s Face,” a sensational drama, will be finally shown tonight, with Joan Crawford and Melvyn Douglas in the chief roles.
