CHILDREN’S PARTY HELD BY WOMEN’S DIVISION. (“Times-Age” Special.) Yesterday afternoon a very successful children’s plain and fancy dress party was held in the State Theatre by the Women’s Division of thd Farmers’ Union, for the purpose of providing funds to purchase articles for members of the Merchant Marine. The gathering was largely attended and a most enjoyable time was spent by .those present. The fancy dresses worn by the children were in many cases outstanding. The judges, Mesdames Tankersley and J. Fisher made the following awards:— Children under 8 years: Ann Steffert (“Bunny”) and Gerald Fitzgerald (“Sailor Boy”) were given first prizes each. A special award was made to Nanette Taucher (“Bride”). Children over 8 years: The prizes were awarded to Kav Reid (“Chinese”) first; BettyHodder (“Spanish”), Ann Gregor (“Hawaiian”), Graham Steffert (“John Bull’’). Much appreciated items were given by June and Peggy Daysh (duet), Mrs Linton (solo) and Doreen Playle (recitation). Grass Fire. 1 An alarm was sounded on the fire siren at 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon, the cause being a grass fire in the vicinity of Mr O’Reilly's homestead, Lincoln Road. The brigade turned out promptly, but on arrival found that their services were not requiircjd, residents in the vicinity succeeded in getting the - fire out. REGENT THEATRE “A WOMAN’S FACE.” The thrilling drama, “A Woman's Face," will be shown tonight and on Monday night. Joan Crawford gives the best portrayal of her screen career and she is ably assisted by Melvyn Douglas.
