Kalinin), iin a message of New Year greetings to the King, says: “To yourself personally and to the peoples and armed forces of Great Britain, I express my confidence that in the New Year, when in the struggle against Hitlerite Germany and its vassals the initiative has passed into the hands of the Allies, the close collaboration in war of our peoples will ensure the destruction of our common foe and the re-establish-ment of freedom and independence among the oppressed nations of Europe.”
