BOWLING GOLD BARS CHANGE HANDS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Gold Bars changed hands last evening, when A. Thompson and Carter beat Brunton and Larsen after a fine game. F. Dewhirst and J. Reid beat H. The Greytown Citizens’ Committee will hold a social gathering in the Odd Fellows’ Hall on New Year’s Eve. The guests of the evening will be the local soldiers and sailors on special leave. Repairing of Stopbank. The large hole in the stopbank just above the bridge at Ahiakouka is being repaired by a special gang as speedily as possible. The break caused the River Board and Highway authorities grave concern for a few days, as there was a danger of the river breaking through at this point. TOWN HALL “HURRICANE SMITH.” There will be a double feature programme at the Town Hall tonight. Ray Middleton and Jane Wyatt are seen at their best in the thrilling drama, “Hurricane Smith.” The other picture is “East Side Kids,” in which the old gang are seen in fast entertainment. In the leading roles, Leo Gorcey, Bobby Jordan and Huntz Hall are ably assisted by a strong supporting cast that includes Warren Hull, Charlotte Henry and Jack Mulhall.
