BOWLING pairs” tournament. (“Times-Age” Special.) A progressive pairs tournament was held on the Carterton green yesterday. The green was very fast. The afternoon tea arrangements were supervised by Mrs W. Spooner, to whom a hearty vote of thanks was accorded. The winning skip was C. H. Barber, and the successful lead W. A. Hart. The second places were filled by G. W. Hart and W. Spooner, respectively. A Hot Day. Yesterday was a very hot day, the temperature in the shade being in the vicinity of 80 degrees. It was the warmest day experienced this summer. Swimming Baths Popular. The warm weather yesterday drew a large number of adults and children to the municipal baths, and the caretaker had a busy time. .> Personal. Mr and Mrs E. H. Fisher, of Mata Mata, are the guests of Mr and Mrs H. T. Leete, Carterton. Mr Fisher was one time on the teaching staff of the Carterton District High School. ORDER OF DRUIDS TOTARA LODGE. Arch Druid Brother H. J. Bassett presided over the meeting of Totara Lodge No. 3 U.A.O.D. -held last night. Two new benefit members were initiated into the Order. Sick pay and accounts amounting to £4 2s were passed for payment. The seasons greetings from the Heart of Oak Lodge (Manchester Unity) Independent Order of Odd Fellows, Carterton, were received and reciprocated. „ It was reported that Bro. L. Fryer had gone.overseas on active service. REGENT THEATRE “THE GREAT WALTZ.” Tonight Strauss's masterpiece, “The Great Waltz,” will be shown. It is the most outstanding musical triumph m screen history, and features Luise Rainer, Fernand Gravet and Miliza Korjus.
