ALFREDTON
SCHOOL CONCERT PRESENTATION OF PRIZES. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Christmas tree gathering and school concert provided much enjoyment for those who attended. Much credit is due to Mr Taverner and Miss Cave, as the children acted their plays and sang their songs excellently. The items were as follows:—Junior classes: Songs and poetry, dialogue, “Sailing By,” Teddy Eagle and Hugh Rolls; action songs by juniors; recitation by Teddy Godinagh; play, “The Uninvited Guests”; sketch, “A Close Shave,” acted by Alex Edmonds, Barrie Rolls, Bill Payne and Valarie Edmonds; songs by the seniors; a play by the seniors, folk dance, songs, etc. by the seniors. Miss Cave was the accompanist. Father Christmas arrived later and presented each child with a gift, a bag of sweets and an ice cream. The Christmas tree was in the charge of Mrs S. George. Mr Burch, chairman of the school committee, presented the prizes to the children, after which he thanked Mr Taverner and Miss Cave for having provided such a good concert. Elsie Edmonds and Rita Payne presented Miss Cave with a beautiful posy of roses and handed a present to Mr Taverner. Supper was provided by the ladies. A competition was won by Mrs Leach, a dinner by Mr L. Cooper and a lamb by Mr S. Smith. The music for the dancing was provided by Miss B. Edmonds and Mrs T. Smith Personal Items. Miss Cave left to spend a holiday with her parents at Gladstone. Mr and Mrs 0. Walker intend spending the holidays in Dannevirke.
