According to a Ministry of Information communication recently issued, the meat ration in France is 120 grammes (a little over three _ and a half ounces) a week; butter is 50 to 100 grammes (1® to 3| ounces), and margarine oi' vegetaline 50 grammes per person per month. The ration tor oil is 300 grammes (104 ounces) per person a month and wine 1| litres >2J pints) a week. There are no potatoes or tea. People just returned to England from France say that these .rations, meagre as they are, are not always obtainable, and that queues form at dawn.
