+ OPENED BV JAPANESE ADVANCE INTO MOUNTAIN COUNTRY. ATTEMPT TO PREVENT ATTACK ON THAILAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) (Received This Day, 11.0 a.m.) CHUNGKING, December 21. The Japanese, from their Kengtung base in Burma, have invaded the extreme southern part of Yunnan Province, states a Chines,e communique. A military spokesman said it was believed that the attack aimed at preventing a possible Chinese attack on Thailand. The area is very mountainous and there are no roads.
