BUILDING SOCIETY TWO BALLOTS HELD. o - ■ j, (“Times-Age” Special.) Mr Gordon Hughan presided over a meeting of the Wairarapa Terminating Building Society when two ballots were held. The successful shareholders were Miss Fogden (Pahiatua), £6OO. and Mr B. Whitburn (Carterton), £6OO. Bowling. Further games in the Carterton Bowling Club’s championship resulted as follow:— Champion singles: Barber beat Newboulcl, 19/14; Kilmister beat Callender. 19/14: Sorensen beat Hart, 18/15; Barr beat Martin, 22/20. Progressive pairs: Pankhurst and Tucker (si beat Daysh and Hughan (s), 29/15; Adams and Riggs (s) beat Steven and Edwards (s), 28/20; Kilmister and Sorensen (s) drew, 20/20. Dance at State Theatre. The weekly dance under the auspices of the Carterton Patriotic Committee will be held in the ’■State Theatre tonight. The music will be supplied by the combined orchestras of Messrs T. Udy and F. Pools. , Resuscitation Certificates. The following pupils of the Carterton District High School Secondary Department have won resuscitation certificactes: —Rex Andrews, Lyn Fitzgerald, Lewis Paterson. Allan Stewart, Douglas Martin, Andrew McKenzie, Allan Simmonds, lan Butcher, Mervyn Renal). Peter Nilsen, Bernard Fryer, Russell Sayer, Norman French, Jim Chapman. Garden Certicates. Garden certificactes have' been won by the following puoils of the Carterton District High School:—Mervyn Renall, Jim Chapman, lan Butcher, Lewis Paterson. Norman French, Peter Taylor. Donald Forbes, Martin Frazer, Burnie Fryer. School Break-up. The breaking-up ceremony in connection with the Carterton District High School took place yesterday when excellent addresses were given by the Rev. W. F. Stent and Mr H. J. McKenzie, chairman of the Carterton School Committee, and a member cf the Wellington Education Board. Mr McKenzie presented certificates awarded for life-saving, athletics, home gardens and class merit. At the primary school Messrs Stent and McKenzie were the speakers, and Mr McKenzie presented the public school certificates to Std. 1 pupils who had earned them, and also certificates to those who had secured awards for lamb and calf-rearing competitions. The headmaster, Mr W. Martin, also addressed some very practical observations 'to the senioi’ scholars. Choruses were sung between the addresses. REGENT THEATRE “CALt A COP.” George Formby’s best presentation, “Call a Cop.” will be shown tonight. It is- one of the funniest pictures eVei\ seen on the screen.
