ONLY HOPE

LEFT FOR FRENCH PATRIOTS TO JOIN IN STRUGGLE AGAINST AXIS. DECLARATION BY GENERAL GIRAUD. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 11.55 a.m.) RUGBY, December 18. General Giraud’s declaration that he knew only one duty, which he would do at the head of his mission, has been warmly welcomed in London. General Giraud said only one hope was left for French patriots —to join in the struggle by the side of their traditional Allies until the defeat of the Axis results in the liberation of France. The only thing that counted was to rebuild a French army able to take an effective part in victory. The general added that he left politics to those who had prepared for them.
