AUSTRALIAN AUSTERITY LOAN OVERSUBSCRIBED BY SEVERAL MILLIONS. BIG INCREASE IN NUMBER OF INVESTORS (By Telegraph—(Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 1.5 p.m.) CANBERRA, This Day. Australia’s £100,000,000 Austerity Loan, which closed on Tuesday, has been oversubscribed by from three million to four million pounds. Only £20,000,000 of the money was raised by conversion. The trading banks made no subscriptions to the loan, but the savings banks were large contributors. The subscribers are estimated to number more than 400,000 —by far the biggest number ever to subscribe to a loan in Australia.
