TRYING TO SELL FRANCE BODY & SOUL INTO HANDS OF THE AXIS. ARMY & WORKERS FOR GERMANY (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, December 15. After a farewell Cabinet meeting Laval lias left Vichy en route for Germany, where he is expected to complete arrangements for full collaboration against the Allies. The Madrid correspondents of the “Daily Mail” and Reuters agree that Laval is expected to offer Hitler a French army of probably 200,00,0. The “Mail’s” correspondent says that Laval is undertaking the most difficult job of his political career, namely to convince Hitler that he is the . man <( who is able to sell France body and 'soul into the. hands of the Axis. Laval goes without France's backing ' and, unfortunately for him, this antagonism is well known in Berlin. Laval today announced that Vichy intended to name 15,000 workers from the Vichy zone for compulsory labour in Germany.
