DAMAGED BUILDINGS
PROTECTIVE WORK REQUIRED IN MASTERTON. STATEMENT BY THE MAYOR. The fact that the Borough Engineer, Mr C. R. Mabson, was sending to property owners a number of requisitions, requesting them to do some protective work on earthquake-damaged buildings was mentioned by the Mayor of Masterton, Mr T. Jordan, today. Mr Jordan said if any property owners were dissatisfied with the work stipulated in the requisitions he proposed to give them the opportunity of conferring with the two Public Works Department representatives, Messrs Burns and Harris, who were responsible for the survey of Masterton buildings after the earthquake. These' officers would be brought to Masterton without cost to the property owners, who could also have their own architect or engineer present at the conference. Mr Jordan said it was hoped to satisfy owners as far as possible and remove any cause of complaint they might have.
