REHABILITATION
BOARD’S POLICY.
OUTLINED BY CHAIRMAN.
(By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 14. “We are now preparing blueprints for peace. Victory without planning soells chaos,” said the chairman of the Rehabilitation Board, Mr Moohan. today. He drew a vivid picture of what the board was out to achieve in the reabsorption of. men and women into > civil life from the armed forces. Mr Mobhan is visiting Auckland to inspect proposed sites for a disabled soldiers’ vocational centre, which will be on similar lines to the one already under construction in Wellington. Negotiations are in progress for suitable land in Christchurch, and a site has been secured in Dunedin, where the harbour board has provided the necessary area at a peppercorn rental. “The policy of the board is that jobs must be found ' for demobilised men whether suffering from injuries or not,” said Mr Moohan. “Therefore every avenue of employment is being explored, so that when the war is over the stage will be set for rehabilitation. Local bodies and every class of employer will have a part to play. A conference is being arranged with local organisations to collate information on works programmes and the domain boards will have an important role in this. “Also, there will be a comprehensive industrial survey. The board’s aim will be to get men into positions without an .annoying time lag. We must know the maximum capacity of factories and the numbers they can employ and also the machinery available, and, what is of great importance, what plant is required. The same goes for the farming industry.”
