VEGETABLE INDUSTRY
GOVERNMENT’S INTENTIONS. SPECULATION IN AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, December 14. Speculation is rife concerning the Government’s intentions in dealing with the vegetable industry. Auckland growers and merchants were represented at the conference in Wellington last week when growers were asked to produce figures concerning costs of production vzithin a week. It is understood that the Government intends to fix maximum and minimum prices for all vegetables though one suggestion made locally is that the State may purchase crops outright and pav guaranteed prices. It is also understood that the Government has under consideration a big scheme to increase the production of vegetables and develop dehydration.
