ADVICE OF VISITING FIRE EXPERT EXPRESSIONS OF GRATITUDE. AT FAREWELL GATHERING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. At a semi-official gathering of civil defence associates, Mr A. D. Wilson, who is about to return to the national fire service of England after an engagement on loan to New Zealand, was presented with a handsome souvenir of New Zealand, his native country, in the form of a smoker's companion of New Zealand woods. The speeches of Messrs S. S. Dean, chairman of the Fire Boards’ Association of New Zealand, Girling Butcher, Dominion Fire Controller, and L. Glover, secretary of the New Zealand Fire Brigades’ Union, emphatically expressed a belief that Mr Wilson’s work had marked a new and very important stage in New Zealand’s fire fighting history. He had made a very favourable impression on the authorities and personnel throughout the Dominion. Apart from his. advice for the emergency fire services, his expert knowledge would prove of great value, in the years after the war. His comprehensive report would give very valuable guidance. It was practically the first text book on fire fighting in this country.
