HOMING PIGEONS
MASTERTON CLUB. FAST TIMES RECORDED. The Masterton Homing Pigeon Club over the weekend held a race from Ohakune (an airline distance of 110 miles), and a single bird toss from Taihape (an airline distance of 105 miles). The weather was good and a strong north-westerly wind resulted in very fast flying times being registered. The following were the results:— From Ohakune: Stewart and Son’s All There (1668yds. per min.), 1; A. Pinkney’s Kittyhawk ,1651,5 yds.), 2; W. Miller's Dunblane (1646 yds.), 3; .Grant and Forrester’s Checkers (1635 yds.), 4; lan Mayes’s Electro (1634 yds.), 5; L. Wickens’s Ariel Lass (1630 yds.), 6. From Taihape: W. Steer’s Red Dash (Ihr. 57min. 6secs.), 1; A. Pinkney’s Red Sun (1 hr. 58min. 9secs.), 2; Grant and Forrester's Arrival (2hrs. 15min. 43secs.), 3; W. Miller’s Dawn Patrol (2hrs. 17min. 43secs.), 4; lan Mayes’s Diezel (2hrs. 35min. 55secs.), 5; Stewart and Son’s Petone Pride (2hrs. 41 min. 45secs.), 6. The next race will be from Helensvule for the Fred Yule Cup. It is a New Zealand Federation event.
