Wing Commander E. Caradus, Director of Educational Services, Royal New Zealand Air Force, is at present in Masterton. The engagement is announced of Nola Phyllis, youngest daughter of Mr and Mrs E. H. Spackman, Masterton, to Aircraftman Raymond Frederick. R.N.Z.A.F., youngest son of Mr and Mrs O. H. Torwick, Masterton. The King has approved the appointment of Mr William Patrick Spens,' 0.8. E.. K.C., M.P., to be Chief Justice of India, in succession to Sir“ Maurice Gwyer. who is due t;o retire on April 25. Mr Spens will take office on his arrival in India, which is expected during the summer. 1
