American fighters and bombers destroyed at least 23, probably 28, Japanese fighters and sank two large cargo ships during the third raid on Canton in four days, says the United Press of America correspondent with the American Air Force in China. He adds that the harbour was strewn with the wreckage of at least 100 barges. Large fires were started. The American raiding force, which was the most powerful yet used in China, was completely unscathed.
