OBITUARY

MR F. H. DUNDERDALE. The death occurred yesterday of a well known and highly respected resident of Masterton, Mr Francis Henry Dunderdale, at the age of 80 years. The late -Mr Dunderdale, who was born in Blackpool, England, was one of the original settlers of the Mount Baker block, in the Alfredton district,' where 'for a time he was engaged in business in partnership with Mr J. H. Bernoy ,of Masterton. Mr Dunderdale was clerk of the Alfredton Road Board and was a church warden of the Alfredton Anglican Church, taking an active part in the campaign for building the church. He retired from farming some twenty years ago and came to live in Masterton where his kindly qualities earned him the respect of a wide circle of friends. He was a generous public benefactor and the source of many of his kindly acts did not see the light of day. Mr Dunderdale took a keen interest in bowls and was patron of the Masterton Bowling Club. He was a generous contributor to the club’s funds. Mr Dunderdale was also a valued vicepresident of St. Matthew’s Tennis Club. The sympathy of a wide circle of friends will be extended to his- widow. Mr H. A. R. Dunderdale, of Masterton, is a nephew. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving St. Matthew’s Church following a service at 2 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
