RAID ON HAIPHONG

LARGE ENEMY SHIP BOMBED SUCCESSFUL AMERICAN BLOW. FIRES STARTED ALL ROUND PORT. LONDON, November 23. It is reported from Chungking that the port and base of Haiphong, in French Indo-China, was bombed last night by American naval aircraft. Japanese reports confirm the raid and the Vichy radio stated that a large ship of nearly 15,000 tons, either a transport or an air-craft-carrier, was hit, Dock installations were also bombed and fires were set blazing all round the port.
