Mrs Ralph Anker, of Greytown, who had been spending a holiday with her parents, Mr and Mrs T. L. Mills, Feilding, has returned home. The death has occurred at Invercargill of Mr Hugh Agnew, the well known Southland representative footballer, at the age of 47 years. Mr J. H. Cunningham, general manager of the W.F.C.A., Ltd, and Mrs Cunningham, have returned to Masterton from a visit to Christchurch. Mr Herbert James Stanley Rickard, well-known Wellington pharmacist, died in a private hospital, Wellington, on Sunday afternoon. Mr Rickard was in his sixty-third year. He was elceted a member of the Pharmacy Board of New Zealand in 1928. From 1936 to 1940 he held the position of president of the board, and, in that capacity, gave outstanding service in connection with the commission set up by the Government in 1938 to investigate the pharmacy business in New Zealand. He was a prominent Freemason in Wellington. The Pahiatua staff of the W.F.C.A. met in the Masonic Hall recently to say farewell to Mr D. Berry, who has been on the Pahiatua staff of the W.F.C.A. for many years, and who has been transferred to the branch at Martinborough. After supper had been served, Pilot Officer J. Richardson made a presentation to the guest of honour. The Mayor, Mr S. J. Judd, endorsed the remarks of the previous speaker. Mr Berry suitably replied. Dancing was enjoyed until a late hour, and a happy gathering was brought to a close with the singing of “Auld Lang Syne.” The death occurred in Sydney, Australia,? recently of Mr Reg Healy, who was at one time well known in New Zealand sporting circles, especially as a swimmer. A brother of the famous Australian swimming champion, Cecil Healy, who was killed in the last war, Mr R. Healy was himself a fine swimmer. He won the Australian 220 yards championship before coming to New Zealand, and in 1910 he won the New Zealand 220 yards championship. He was also champion of the Thorndon Swimming Club, Wellington. While in New Zealand, Mr Healy married Miss Henrys, daughter of Mr J. E. Henrys, the well-known racing handicapper.
