BOWLING

PARK CLUB WEEKEND GAMES. GOOD ENTRIES FOR CHAMPION EVENTS. There was again a good attendance of Park bowlers at the green over the weekend. The green, which had received treatment during the week, was in participaily good condition. Chief interest lately has been centred in the various trophy matches. These have produced some good bowling, particularly in the Keetley Medal games, in which several of the colts have shown remarkable progress. The results are:—E. McCord and H. Smith beat Garard and H. Dixon, 26/19; Waters and Kilgour beat McCord and Smith, 23/16, and have since beaten Maxted and O’Donnell, 32/22, and White and Shearer, 23/12. R. Spackman and G. Brown retained the Ferns by defeating C. Leigh and F. Dixon, 22/17, whilst H. Smith and G. Brown lost the Feathers to Leigh and Dixon. 21/17. The initial game fox- the McKenzie Buttons was unfinished owing to rain, but it was agreed that P. Trevorrow, E. Brown, G. Brown, H. Smith (s) having a lead of 16/7 over P. Buckley, D. Wallis, E. Slamforth, H. Can- (s) should be the holders. This competition, which does not pexmit driving a running shot, has aroused much discussion and the umpire will have an arduous job in making his decisions. The game is a purely drawing one, and will necessitate very accurate bowling. The quota of teams to play the Manawatu visitors on Saturday next has been tilled, and, should additional players be a notice will be posted on the board duiing th Good C entries have been received for the various club championships and the handicap singles, and members are reminded that these close on November 30. Lively interest is being shown m the proposed N.Z versus The Rest competition to be held on December 5, and the number of names aready on the board suggests a record attendance of members. At present the Kiwis hold the honours. . The tentative date for the rinks competition with the Masterton Club for the Davie Memorial Cup has been fixed as December 12, when it is hoped to be able to entex at least 14 rinks.
