ENJOYABLE CONCERT INMATES OF HOME ENTERTAINED (“Times-Age” Special.) The scholars of the Anglican Sunday School entertained the inmates at the Buchanan Home at a most enjoyable concert on Saturday afternoon. Mrs S. Shedden was responsible for the arrangements. The children delighted their audience with their colourful Dutch costumes and Dutch songs. The appropriate setting added to the programme. Miss B. Shedden was the accompaniste. At the conclusion Matron Higginson thanked Mrs Shedden for having presented such an excellent programme. ODD FELLOWS’ LODGE POPULAR SECRETARY RETIRES. Mr F. Dennes, who has been secretary of the Greytown Odd Fellows’ Lodge for the last 20 years, has asked to be relieved of his duties at the end of the month. Mr Dennes has been a most efficient and painstaking officer and has seen the lodge make rapid strides. He served a term as Grandmaster of the Wellington district. Mr H. McPhee has been appointed to fill the vacancy. Personal Items. Mr and Mrs P. Brittain have returned to Wellington after having spent a few days with Mr and Mrs S. Shedden, Main Street. Mrs R. Anker has returned home after a few days spent in Feilding. Miss D. Richards has returned from Pahiatua. She was accompanied by Miss M. Adams. Women’s Division. The Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union will hold its final meeting of the year on Wednesday afternoon. It will take the form of a social gathering. A full attendance of members would be appreciated. Bowling. The club competitions were commenced at the weekend. The following were the results:—Campbell Cup handicap: J. Burden beat J. Stringfellow, A. Thompson beat J. Coleman, C. Brown beat H. J. Nightingale. McLeod Cup: H. Wallace beat S. Brice. Handicap singles: N. McLeod beat C. Larsen. Dennes Gold Medal: T. Connolly beat J. Kiernan. Gold Bars (pairs): J. Stringfellow and F. Harrington beat J. Reid and W. Higgison. All the first rounds are to be played within one week. TOWN HALL “DANNY BOY.” ( Tomorrow night there will be presented an outstanding story of old Ireland, “Danny Boy,” in which the chief roles are in the hands of John. Warwick, Grant Tyler, Ann Todd and Wilfred Lawson. It is a picture which should make an immediate appeal to the audience.
