ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

DANCE IN MASONIC HALL. SOLDIER MEMBER WELCOMED HOME. The Masonic Hall, Masterton, was crowded on Saturday night, when the Cadet Division of the St. John Ambulance held a successful dance. Bright music was supplied by Mr Jack Barnes’s Rhythm Boys, and extras were played by Miss B. Boyd and Sergeant Jack Robinson. A Monte Carlo waltz was won by Miss V. Fitzwater and Pte. J. C. Coleman. The Cadet Superintendent ,Mr C. S. McQuade, was a capable M.C.

During the evening Mr McQuade took the opportunity of publicly welcoming home one of the Brigade members, Pte. R ,E. McPhail, who had returned after spending 2| years in the Middle East, serving with the N.Z. Medical Corps. On behalf of the St. John Ambulance Social Committee, Mr McQuade presented. him with a wallet. Pte .McPhail suitably responded, and stated that he would like to place on record his deep appreciation to the Ladies’ Social -Committee for the excellent| parcels they were sending to the Brigade members serving in the Middle East.

Mr McQuade thanked patrons for their continued support, and announced that the final dance of the year would be held on Saturday, December 5. He also thanked the Ladies’ Committee for the splendid supper they had so ably dispensed to such a large number present.
