The death occurred at Pahiatua yesterday of Mr Adam Millar, at the age of 62 years. Mr and Mrs E. Wickens, Perry Street, have received cabled advice that their son, Cpl. Russell Wickens, R.N.Z.A.F., has arrived safely at his overseas destination. Mrs Blackley, of Masterton, has received further advice that her _ son, Pte. L. J. Blackley, who was previously reported seriously wounded, is now improving. The death has occurred at Wanganui of Mr James Aitken, 8.A., former headmaster of the Wanganui District High School for 30 years. He was in his eighthy-eighth year. The Prime Minister, Mr Fraser, arrived in Auckland from Wellington by train on Saturday. During the weekend he visited a naval hospital, inspected defence works, and left for Wellington again last night. In the practical examination held in Welling ion recently in connection with Trinity College, London, Miss Margaret McClymont, _of Masterton, was successful in gaining a pass in the Associate (teachers) grade.
