CARTERTON
DELIVERY OF GOODS REGULATION CONSIDERED DRASTIC. (“Tanes-Age” Special.) Concern is expressed by many local residents at the decision of the authorities to forbid the delivery of goods by grocers, bakers or butchers within a radius of two miles of a post office. It is pointed out that this will place a heavy burden upon old and sick people. It was expected that some restriction would be imposed, but a two-mile radius is considered to be too drastic. Personal Items. The funeral of the late Mrs F. Jensen took place yesterday at the Clareville cemetery. Many beautiful floral wreaths were received. The pall-bear-ers were Messrs Noel, Stanley and Victor Jensen (sons), Wilfred Jensen (nephew), C. Morris (nephew), and A. Jensen (brother-in-law). The deceased was well known and highly respected in the Carterton district, where she had resided for very many years. Repairs to Flour Mill. Work was commenced this morning in connection with repairing the Carterton flour mill, which was damaged by the earthquake. The whole of the front portion of the brick building is to be pulled down and rebuilt in wood.
