MANY AIR ATTACKS

ON JAPANESE FORCES IN BURMA BRITISH AND AMERICAN ACTIVITIES. LAND PATROLLING BY BOTH SIDES. (British Official Wireless.) (Received This Day, 10.25 a.m.) RUGBY, November 18. A joint war communique from India states: “R.A.F. Blenheim bombers yesterday morning attacked a group of Japanese-occupied buildings at Kalenyo, starting fires there and In other parts of the target areas. None of our planes are missing. “It is confirmed that in R.A.F. raids on Akyab, on November 10, a further two enemy aircraft were destroyed, making a total of four for the day, as well as several others damaged. “American fighter-bombers during the past week, without loss to themselves, successfully bombed and ma-chine-gunned Japanese objectives in Burma, starting fires and inflicting casualties on enemy troops. No American planes are missing. “Active land patrolling by both sides continues in Burma. There were two incidents during the past 48 hours. Fire was exchanged between Japanese patrols and a party of levies. We suffered no casualties and the enemy withdrew. North-east of Akyab a British patrol successfully pursued an enemy detachment and killed or wounded several, without loss to themselves.”
