AIR FORCE DANCE

HELD IN MASTERTON LAST NIGHT LARGE NUMBER OF GUESTS. Members of the Sergeants’ Mess, Royal New Zealand Air Force, entertained a large number of guests at a private dance held in the Masonic Hall, Masterton, last night. The hall was artistically decorated with flags of the United Nations and festoons of balloons hung around the red lampshades. Particularly good music was supplied by eleven members of the Air Force Band, Wellington. The official party was headed by Wing Commander and Mrs R. C. Ayling. Mrs Ayling wore a becoming gown of dusky pink with silver trimmings. On behalf of members of the Sergeants’ Mess, Mrs Thomas Millikm presented Mrs Ayling with a shoulder spray. Flight Sergeant Rex Webber, on behalf of the Sergeants’ Mess, expressed deep appreciation of the hospitality Masterton and district residents had extended to them during their stay here. Miss Enid Thompson’s ballet received a splendid hearing for a well-exe-cuted military number. A delicious savoury supper was served. , . , , • The dance was conducted on admirable lines and reflected great credit on the organisers, Flight Sergeants T. Millikin (chairman of the Sergeants Mess), E. Milne, Herbert, R. Webber and Sergeant Shultz.
