Mrs G. C. Williams, Short Street, Masterton, is visiting Blenheim. Miss D. Todd, Lansdowne, is staying with her sister, Mrs Gorringe, Mangaweka. Miss Grace Hopkins, Auckland, is the guest of her sister, Mrs Keith Eastwood, The Terrace, Lansdowne. Mrs W. G. Lamb, Herbert Street, Masterton, who has been staying with her daughter, Mrs J. Perry, Waitara, has returned h'ome. Mrs Alastair Buchanan, _ who has been visiting Wellington, is staying with her mother, Mrs H. J. W. Lord, Essex Street, Masterton. Word has been received by Mr and Mrs J. Wright, Colombo Road, Masterton, that their son, Pilot Officer Hugh Wright, has been promoted to the rank of Flying Officer. At the meeting of the Masterton Borough Council last night, Mr F. R. Philpott. Masterton, was appointed custodian of the council baths. A London cablegram reports that Mr R. S. Forsyth, formerly London Manager of the New Zealand Meat Producers’ Board, who died in August last, left an estate valued at £7,365. Colonel Barclay, Chief Commissioner for New Zealand, has approved of the following appointments in the Masterton Nursing Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade:—Divisional Surgeon, Dr. Norman H. Prior; Lady Divisional Superintendent, Miss Dorothy Kemp; senior lady ambulance officer and treasurer, Miss L. Whitehouse; lady ambulance officers, Mesdames H. W. Thompson and A. Tagg; lady divisional storekeeper, Miss B. Kemp.
