RED CROSS SOCIETY ENJOYABLE EUCHRE PARTY. (“Times-Age” Special.) An enjoyable time was spent at the weekly euchre party held in the Red Cross Society’s rooms yesterday. Mrs Carlyon was the winner at cards. The competition winners were Mesdames Lawson and Carlyon. Donations were received from Mesdames N. Matthews, T. Lang and H. Lawson. MINIATURE RIFLES CLOSING OF SEASON. At the official closing for the season of the Featherston Miniature Rifle Club’s range the B team beat the A team by 1129 points to 1110. Mr W. Johnson, a foundation and life member of the club, presented the following trophies and cups won during the season: —A grade (Nix Cup): L. G. Rasmussen, 1; B. Williams (trophy), 2; K. McKenzie (trophy), 3. B grade (Moriarity Cup): L. Halpin, 1; D. Feast (trophy), 2; D. Sim (trophy), 3. Viles Cup, L. G. Rasmussen; Austin Cup, A. McKenzie; Witcombe and Caldwell Cup, B. Williams; Yule Cup, D. Feast; Watson Cup, D. Feast. A guessing competition for a lamb donated by Mr B. Williams, was won by R. Cade, of Pahautea. Supper was served by the lady members.
Children of Mary. A retreat for the Children of Mary Society began at St. Teresa’s Church on Sunday and will continue till Wednesday morninp-, when it will be followed by a mission until the end of the week. The missioner is the Rev. Father Cheeseman, S.M. The services will be held at 6.30 a.m. and 7.30 p.m. daily.
COSY THEATRE ‘■INVITATION TO MURDER.” The high standard of pictures at the Cosy Theatre is well known, and tomorrow night’s programme will be headed by the thrilling drama, “Invitation -to Murder.” The leading roles are in the hands of those brilliant artists, Tjaomas Mitchell, Geraldine Fitzgerald and Jeffrey Lynn.
