GREYTOWN

BOROUGH COUNCIL MONTHLY MEETING. ("Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Greytown Borough Council was held last evening. There were present: Messrs A. W. Horton (Mayor), Councillors W. A. Tate, I. Blissett, A. Stuart, G. F. Eagar, H. J. Farley, H. McKenna and F. Wood; An apology for absence was received from Councillor H. C. Trotman. The poundkeeper reported that one heifer had been impounded during October. The acting chief lighting warden, Mr P. Dunn, reported that the “blackout” had been most satisfactory. The Mayor remarked that he considered that” the townspeople had complied very well with the regulations. The secretary of the Patriotic Committee wrote asking that the Rest Room be opened on Sundays for the use of soldiers’ wives. It was decided that the matter be held over pending further inquiries. The Agriculture Department wrote asking for a high pressure water supply for domestic use. The request was granted. The council decided to grant the use of the Town Hall free for entertaining local soldiers on leave, the Patriotic Committee to pay for the lighting and anv extra expenses. The Mayor stated that the borough foreman had been called in the last ballot. The council decided to lodge an appeal. It was pointed out that all the other members of the staff were in the forces, and the foreman was the only one left who had a thorough knowledge of the water and sewerage system. The foreman reported that during the month 25 chains of water races had been cleaned, noxious weeds on bor- , ough property had been cut, and the grader had been used on the side roads. TOWN HALL THRILLING DRAMA. One of the most thrilling dramas ever brought to the screen, “Invitation to Murder,” will be presented tonight. The chief characters are portrayed by Geraldine Fitzgerald, Jeffrey Lynn and Thomas Mitchell.
