Entertainment of Soldiers.
Local bodies in future will be empowered to make contributions toward presentations or the entertainment of soldiers either going overseas or returning to the Dominion. This provision is contained in an amendment to the Patriotic Purposes Emergency Regulations, 1939, gazettetd last night. Private School Essential.
Teaching in registered private schools has been declared essential. “This decision,” said the Minister of Industrial Manpower, Mr McLagan, yesterday, “brings these schools into line with State schools, and has the effect of making the coverage of the teaching profession complete. Teachers in private registered schools will, as a general rule, be allowed to transfer to positions with other schools, provided that the precedent consent •of the district manpower officer is obtained.”
