COUNTY AFFAIRS

FEATHERSTON. COUNCIL DAMAGE TO ROADS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of the Featherston County Council was held at Martinborough today. Mr A. B. Martin presided. There were also present: Councillors R. Smith, C. J. Bidwill, J. A. McLeod, J. G. Gillies, R. W. Matthews and L. J. Thompson. Apologies for absence were received from Messrs W. Cameron and Hugh Donald. A motion of condolence was passed with relatives of the late Mr H. T. Armstrong, Minister of Public Works. The Main Highways Board wrote in reply to the council’s complaint that military traffic was seriously damaging County roads. The Board said that unless specific details could be given the offenders could not be tracked down. , . , The ranger reported having dealt with 2 horses and 59 dogs.
