GREEK CELEBRATION
OF ALLIED VICTORY IN EGYPT. SUPPRESSED BY THE GERMANS IN ATHENS. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, November 11. An Istanbul message says that Axis troops in Athens opened fire when Greek students and others staged a street march to celebrate the Allied victory in Egypt, news of which has only just reached Athens, causing indescribable enthusiasm. Several demonstrators were arrested. German and Italian militiamen are now patrolling Athens streets day and night. Public meetings are banned.
