MASTERTON BRANCH MEETING YESTERDAY AFTERNOON GIFTS OF CLOTHING APPRECIATED. At the monthly meeting of the Masterton branch of the Plunket Society held yesterday afternoon, there were present Mesdames Caselberg, J. M. Coradine, R. Drummond, C. Richardson, J. Broad, I. Bunny, J. James, A. Falloon, E. Norman, A. F. Stewart, H. Daniell, M. Carmine, H. Kelt’ie, H. Morrison (Tinui) and N. Irwin (hon treasurer). It was reported that Mrs H. Robinson and Miss B. Kummer were on duty at the nursery, 25 Essex Street. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames T. W. Wardell, T. Jordan, T. F. Watson, E. Sortain Smith, P. Nathan, Kemble Welch, E. J. Heffer, G. Cowie and S. L. P. Free (hon secretary). ’ Motions of sympathy were passed as follows: To Mrs Free on the death of her sister, Miss L. Aitken; to the relatives of Miss Campbell, who was relieving nurse at the local branch and gave faithful service, and to Mr and Mrs J. M. Laing (Tinui) on the death of their son, who was killed in action. Members stood in silence for a few moments as an expression of sympathy. Accounts amounting to £4B 4s lOd were passed for payment. The president reported that two members of the committee had- been in charge every week at the nursery in Essex Street, which would remain open each Wednesday afternoon until the second week in December. The Christmas cake, donated by Mrs Hugh Morrison (Tinui) was won by Mrs D. Welch. Thanks for. gifts of clothing which were much appreciated were expressed to the Mataikona Ladies’ Guild, Mesdames G. Cowie, Russell, Smith and Hodson. The nurses’ report for October was as follows:—Masterton,, adults 476, babies 446, pre-school children 61; visits 'to homes (own), new cases 40, old 144, pre-school children seen in homes in town 14. New town cases for the month 15. Out-stations: Tinui subbranch, Blairlogie, Taueru, Whareama, Langdale, Tinui, Tinui Valley. 2 visits each; Whakataki, 1 visit; new cases, 2; visits to new cases 3; visits to old cases 18. Mauriceville subbranch: Kopuaranga, 2 visits, Mt. Bruce, Mauriceville East and West, Mangamaire, 1 visit. Visits to homes, 14; pre-school children seen in homes (country) 10; pre-natal section, total visits, 11. .
